Mei Day

Today was the day that we met Amelia, it was surreal to say the least. After the mayhem of the last 3 days, this morning we woke late then spent about an hour and a half eating breakfast before heading to the pool. We played in the pool for a while (it is very hot here) and went up to take get ready to meet Amelia. We met our guide, Connie, at 1:30 and drove to a non-descript government office building about 20 minutes away. We headed to the 9th floor where Madi needed to use the bathroom, while Sue and Madi were in the bathroom, two women came from the elevator holding a baby and sure it enough it was Amelia. After all the anticipation, preparation and stress it came down to me in the hallway with Connie the guide while Sue and Madi were in the bathroom. Too much.

We spent about 15 minutes with Amelia, Connie, the orphanage people and some random cleaning lady in the hallway because the civil affairs office was not ready for us. Once the office was ready we went into a non-descript waiting room and waited about 10 minutes while the orphanage people did some business and we did a bit of paper work. Then Amelia came out of an office and we were officially new parents. We spent another 15 minutes talking to the nannies about her habits, eating and things like that, then we headed back out to the car and home to the hotel. All said we were gone from the hotel for about an hour.

She has cried a bit but right now is sleeping soundly on Sue's lap.

She is beautiful.

One thing, I cannot see the blog messages and our .rcn e-mail accounts are spotty so the best way to contact us is at ccorvi@yahoo.com.
