A few more pictures...

Madilyn met Bradford today for the first time, she was quite excited to see him and gave him some toys. She really wanted to feed him so we gave her a bottle and she had a great time holding him and watching him eat. When he started to cry she said "Daddy, he is trying to tell you something". Very cute.

Bradford John

Contractions started around 1:30 Sunday afternoon, we were on our way to Walden Pond because it was hot and we wanted a swim. We talked about turning around but Sue insisted so off we went. Following a good swim, ice cream and a trip to the farm (still contracting by the way) we went home to cook supper, but the contractions started to intensify and Sue didn't eat much as she walked around and made sure the cameras battery was charged and she has a fresh pair of socks packed. Madilyn and I were minding our own business eating dinner then cleaning up when Sue told me she was going to take a shower - this is when I knew she was serious so I started to plan with Madilyn what may be in store for the night. Sure enough by 8:00 we were making phone calls to get people here to take care of Madi and we were off to the hospital.

After a sleepless night at MGH and a rather dull day in the labor and delivery ward (save a neighbor who screamed bloody murder for a while) the contractions really started to roll around 2:00, at 4:30 Sue gave birth to Bradford John who weighed in at 6 pounds 13 ounces and measure 20 inches long. Mother and baby are recovering nicely.

The Referral - Amelia

The phone call came this morning at 11:20 AM (our anniversary BTW). I was sitting my desk preparing for paternity leave when the agency called. I half expected the call but it was still a thrill! Meg, the coordinator from the adoption agency asked first about how Sue is doing before we got into the details of referral. Once we got through the formalities she told me about our daughter. Her name is Qiu Yi Ning, she was born on 10/16/2006 in Guangdong and she lives at the Guangning Social Welfare Institute.

Later today, after the 38 week appointment with Sue’s doctor, we went to the agency where we were given details of her health. All of her tests were normal and at 6 months she weighed 16 pounds and was 24 inches long. They say that she’s quiet (she will fit right in with this crew!), likes to play with rattles and her favorite thing to do is play in her walker.

As you can all imagine, we are thrilled with all that has happened today and now we patiently await the birth of our son and then the trip to China to pick up our second daughter, Amelia.

2 weeks and counting.

Hi, this is the second post to the blog as I work out the process of posting pre-baby. Sue is due in 2 weeks from tomorow, but none of us expect her to go that long. Here are a couple pictures from our recent activities. The top one is the girls scrap booking, the bottom one is Madi on the esplanade for the pops practice concert.
